Other Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What are the 10S and 30R?
The 10S and 30R refer to the two surface textures we offer with our hard mousepads (excluding cloth pads). Both surfaces have the same build, but differ by the mousing texture.
The numbers come from the R(a) parameter. The R(a) parameter is a standard measuring unit (eg. meter for length) for measuring surface roughness. It is calculated by an algorithm that measures the average length between peaks and valleys on a surface.
The 10S (S for smooth) has an R(a) parameter of 10. It is a more finely-textured surface popular with those who prefer the feel of mousing on a really smooth surface. Smooth surfaces give slightly more precision, though a slightly more effort is needed to move the mouse. Low R(a) also means having less noise when moving the mouse about.
The 30R (R for rough) has an R(a) parameter of 30. It is a moderately rough surface, although not too rough. Less effort is needed to move the mouse, but movements are slightly more noisy than on the 10S.
With our 1030 double-sided mousepads, you get both textures so you won't have to choose!
2. I want to get a F-series mousepad. How do I decide between the 10S or the 30R surface?
Both surfaces have their advantages and really depend on personal preference. You can decide based on the degree of precision you need and the degree of mousing smoothness that you like.
3. I can't decide on a size!
Once you have decided on a series, you can choose between a couple of available sizes. We suggest deciding on a size depending on how much space you have on your desk, and how big of a statement you want to make with your mousing surface. If you are choosing a smoother surface than what you are used to, you may also want to consider getting a slightly larger surface.
